Loewen wasn’t terrible and if the bullpen could have kept things the same (alot to ask for with this squad) we might have been able to pull off the victory. Loewen went 6 innings, gave up 8 hits, 4 run (3 earned), walked one, and had 8 strikeouts. Brian Burres and Todd Williams combined for a scoreless 7th. Russ Ortiz started the 8th and gave up 2 more runs, Bruce Chen got the last out of the inning for him. Julio Manon struck out the side in the 9th.

The Orioles scored 3 runs, all on solo homeruns. Miguel Tejada led the way with two of the solo shots, his 23rd and 24th, and a walk. Corey Patterson had the other one, his 15th, and a double. Raul Chavez had a couple of hits. Chris Gomez, Nick Markakis, and Jay Gibbons had a single each. Theres 6 games left in the season, still time to evaluate for next season.

Markakis watch: 1-4 (.298)

We finish the season off with a series at New York, then a series at Boston. Tonight, Hayden Penn (0-3, 15.43) starts things off against the Yankees and Cory Lidle (11-10, 4.86). Go O’s.
