O’s Pummeled By Blue Jays 9-2

W – David Purcey (1-2, 5.31) L – Chris Tillman (2-4, 4.71)

Tillman gave up 3 runs in the 3rd inning and was charged with another in the 6th. He started the 6th, but was removed after the lead off batter hit a homerun. Tillman went 5 innings, giving up those 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. He struck out 5 batters. It seems the team is still debating whether Tillman will start one or two more games. I say let him finish the season and pitch his next two turns through the rotation. Alberto Castillo replaced him in the 6th and got out both batters he faced. Cla Meredith then came in and promptly gave up a homerun before getting out of the inning. Chris Ray started the 7th and couldn’t get anybody out. He loaded the bases, giving up a couple hits and a walk, before being removed in favor of Sean Henn. Henn was impressive. He got out of the bases loaded, nobody out jam without allowing a run. He got a flyout and struck out the last two batters. Bob McCrory kicked off the 8th and continued to prove why he should be kicked off the team. He gave up 4 runs in 0.2 innings on 2 hits and 3 walks. Chris Lambert got the last out of the inning.

The Orioles scored a run in the 2nd when Felix Pie singled in Nick Markakis, who had also singled and advanced to second on Melvin Mora’s walk. The only other run we scored was in the 9th when the game was well out of hand. Luke Scott led off with his 24th double and moved to third on a passed ball. Pie hit a sacrifice fly to bring him in to score. Michael Aubrey, Ty Wiggington, and Matt Wieters each had singles in the game. Brian Roberts, Cesar Izturis, and Markakis added walks.

Player of the game: Felix Pie (1-3, 2 RBI (.259 AVG))

Mark Hendrickson (5-5, 4.47) starts game 151 for the Orioles against another lefty, Brian Tallet (7-9. 5.31).
