Millwood Finally Gets First Win, 5-4

W – Kevin Millwood (1-8)     L – Clayton Richard (4-4)     SV – Alfredo Simon (7)

It looked like more of the same for Kevin Millwood after the first inning. He gave up three runs right off the bat but was able to shut down the Padres over the next five innings. He gave up 3 runs over 6 innings on 7 hits and 2 walks with 5 strikeouts. Will Ohman pitched a scoreless 7th and Jason Berken a scoreless 8th. Alfredo Simon got the save but it wasn’t easy, he gave up a run to make it a one run game before closing the door. The offense finally had a decent game with runners in scoring position, going 3-9. Nick Markakis had an RBI double and a sacrifice fly, Luke Scott had an RBI single as one of his three hits, and the big hit came on an Adam Jones two run shot, his 9th. Julio Lugo had a pair of singles and a stolen base in the game. Sorry for the abbreviated recap, I have alot going on with father’s day.

Player of the game: Adam Jones – 2-4, R, 2 RBI, HR (9) (.256 AVG)

Jake Arrieta (2-0, 2.77) tries to keep his early success going against groundball specialist Jon Garland (6-5, 3.07) in game three of the series.
