Another Late Homerun Kills O’s 4-3

W – Zack Greinke (7-10)     L – David Hernandez (5-8)     SV – Joakim Soria

One good thing from last nights game was Brad Bergesen’s performance. In what has been a season where hes taken a step back he pitched like the guy last year that showed so much potential. He was able to get through 7 innings scattering 5 hits and a walk for 2 runs with 5 strikeouts. He was only at 98 pitches after the 7th inning but you could tell he was tiring and I think it was best to get him out of there. David Hernandez pitched the 8th but gave the game to the Royals on a two run homer by Billy Butler. It was just a good swing put on a 98 mph fastball. The Orioles put three runs on the board in the top of the 6th inning to take the lead 3-1. Back to back singles by Julio Lugo and Brian Roberts started the inning and Nick Markakis doubled to score both of them. Two batters later Adam Jones singled to score Markakis. Jones and Pie each had two singles in the game and Matt Wieters singled and walked. I think its safe to say that Brian Roberts is all the way back. He stole his first base since coming off the disabled list on Friday and scored from first on a double last night. He also walked and was hit by a pitch in the game.

Player of the game: Brad Bergesen – 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 5 K (6.63 ERA)

Kevin Millwood (2-10, 5.96) will try to force a series split today against former Oriole Bruce Chen (5-5, 4.83) in Juan Samuel’s last game as manager.
