Another Walk Off, This Time In Extras 2-1

W – Alfredo Simon (3-2)     L – Tony Pena (3-2)

Brad Bergesen pitched another great game. Coming off a seven inning, two run effort in Kansas City he only allowed one run on 5 hits and a walk over 7 innings against the White Sox last night. Hes also striking out more batters than usual, he had 5 last night. The pitching has improved mightily over the last week or so. Koji Uehara seems to be enjoying his role as a late inning reliever. He pitched a scoreless 8th inning with two strikeouts. Alfredo Simon recovered from his last couple outing to pitch a scoreless 9th and 10th to keep the game tied and get the win. The top of the O’s lineup did all the damage on offense. The game started with three singles in a row from Brian Roberts, Nick Markakis, and Ty Wiggington to score the first run. We didn’t score again until the bottom of the 10th inning. Markakis singled, Luke Scott followed with a single of his own, and Adam Jones ended it with a game winning RBI single into left field. The bottom four spots in the lineup went hitless. Roberts had two singles and a walk, Markakis had four singles, and Scott had two. We missed out on some scoring opportunities but we came through when it counted and Buck Showalter is now 4-0 since taking over.

Player of the game: Nick Markakis – 4-5, R (.297 AVG)

Kevin Millwood (2-11, 6.05) tries to make it five for five this time through the rotation tonight against Maryland native Gavin Floyd (7-8, 3.54).
