Bergesen Dominant In 3-1 Win

W – Brad Bergesen (4-9)     L – Josh Tomlin (1-2)

Brad Bergesen circa 2009 has been pitching in our rotation since Buck Showalter came into town. He had his best performance of the season and maybe even his career last night. A complete game two hitter only allowing one run with two walks and four strikeouts. He was in complete control of the game from the first pitch to the last. He only threw 102 pitches over his 9 innings and got alot of ground balls. The Orioles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brian Roberts and Ty Wiggington singled, moved up on a wild pitch, and Roberts scored on an RBI groundout by Luke Scott. In the 4th inning Felix Pie singled and Matt Wieters walked before Cesar Izturis singled Pie in for a 2-0 lead. Roberts hit a solo homerun in the 5th to put a cap on it. He had a great game with three hits and a walk. Adam Jones had a single, double, and was hit by a pitch and Josh Bell hit three singles. The Orioles are now 8-1 under Showalter and they’ve got to be feeling more and more confident as every game goes by.

Player of the game: Brad Bergesen – 9 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 BB, 4 K, W (4-9) (5.84 ERA)

Kevin Millwood (2-11, 5.84) tries to give us the sweep tonight. Rookie Jeanmar Gomez (2-0, 1.56) pitches for the Indians.
