Texas Counters With Their Own Shut Out 2-0

W – CJ Wilson (12-5)     L – Jake Arrieta (4-5)     SV – Neftali Feliz (30)

The roles were reversed Friday night as the Orioles came out on the losing end of a shut out. CJ Wilson struck out 12 Orioles over 8.2 innings and an inconsistent strike zone that went largely against the O’s was a big reason for it. Nick Markakis struck out looking in all three of his at bats and was ejected for the first time in his career after the third one. Buck Showalter was also thrown out later in the game. Julio Lugo had two of our three hits with a single and a double. Brian Roberts’ single was the other hit. Jake Arrieta pitched a good game of his own but it was the wrong night and he came away with the loss. 6.2 innings only allowing 2 runs (one earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts. Mark Hendrickson came in and allowed an inherited runner to score before Alfredo Simon came in and finished the 7th inning. He also pitched a scoreless 8th. Matt Albers and Mike Gonzalez combined to pitch a perfect 9th but it didn’t change the outcome of the game.

Player of the game: Julio Lugo – 2-4, double (4) (.257 AVG)

Brad Bergesen and Cliff Lee will be the starters for game three.
