Rays Top O’s 4-1

W – Matt Garza (14-7)     L – Kevin Millwood (3-15)     SV – Rafael Soriano (41)

– Before the game Rays starter Matt Garza said he was going to throw the ball down our throats and make us uncomfortable because we hit four homeruns off of him last time. He didn’t exactly do that but he did get the win to improve to 9-1 against the O’s lifetime.
– Kevin Millwood only lasted 5.2 innings and gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks with 3 strikeouts. His command was the real problem and he threw too many pitches to make it deep into the game. His 15th loss is the most in the majors.
– Mark Hendrickson did a great job out of the bullpen, pitching 3 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Jim Johnson got the last out on a strikeout.
– The Orioles only run came on a Felix Pie sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 4th inning.
– Ty Wiggington and Josh Bell each hit doubles. Brian Roberts, Luke Scott, Corey Patterson, Matt Wieters, and Cesar Izturis each singled. Scott walked twice and Patterson walked once.
– This three game losing streak is the first for the Orioles under Buck Showalter.

Player of the game: Mark Hendrickson – 3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 5 K (4.97 ERA)

Staff ace Jeremy Guthrie goes up against the Rays opening day starter James Shields in game two.
