Game Two Goes To The Orioles 8-4

W – Jeremy Guthrie (9-13)     L – James Shields (13-12)

– Jeremy Guthrie continued his resurgence as ace of the staff with 7 solid innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk with 7 strikeouts. The first batter of the game hit a homerun but he was able to settle down from there.
– Mike Gonzalez had an impressive 8th inning, striking out all three batters he faced.
– Koji Uehara gave up back to back solo homeruns in the 9th but luckily we had a six run lead. I’d rather see him give up those homeruns in that situation than in a one or two run game.
– The Orioles quickly took the lead in the bottom of the first when Brian Roberts singled and Nick Markakis hit a two run homer to make it 2-1. They both also singled later in the game.
– Felix Pie and Matt Wieters each also had two RBIs in the game. They both singled and doubled.
– Luke Scott thought he had a homerun but it was ruled a double after looking at instant replay. He also had a single, a walk, and an RBI.
– Ty Wiggington and Corey Patterson both singled twice. Patterson stole his 20th base of the season and Wiggington scored two runs.

Player of the game: Jeremy Guthrie – 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 7 K, W (9-13) (3.89 ERA)

Chris Tillman (1-4, 7.92) makes his return to the big leagues against Wade Davis (11-9, 4.29) and the Rays in the rubber game of the series.
