Indians Finish Sweep 4-2

W – Fausto Carmona (1-2)     L – Brad Bergesen (0-2)     SV – Chris Perez (5)

– Bergesen wasn’t terrible today but he left a couple pitches up in the zone and got punished for it, with two solo homeruns. The good thing was he got nine ground ball outs which is a sign hes got the sink on his fastball. He was able to go 5 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 3. He didn’t walk anybody and should be stretched out for future starts but he just didn’t get any run support, which is becoming the theme for this season.
– Jeremy Accardo gave up a solo homerun over two innings, striking out two. Koji Uehara walked two batters while striking out two in a scoreless 8th inning. It was the first time he walked a batter in 37 appearances which is the 3rd longest streak in MLB history. I think he should be the closer over Kevin Gregg, who struggles to find the strike zone at times.
– The offense came up empty again today, only scoring two runs on six hits. Brian Roberts had a double and two singles and scored a run. Luke Scott hit a sacrifice fly. Nick Markakis, Vladimir Guerrero, and Matt Wieters each singled while Derrek Lee walked. We were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and are headed home on a seven game losing streak, not winning a single game on the road trip.

Player of the game: Brian Roberts – 3-4, R, double (2) (.267 AVG)

The Orioles are headed home with their tails between their legs. The struggling Twins are coming to town for a four game series. Francisco Liriano (0-3, 9.43) pitches for Minnesota against Chris Tillman (0-1, 7.30) in a battle of struggling pitchers. I’d say it’ll be a high scoring game but I don’t know with these offenses..
