O’s Slug Sox 10-4

W – Jake Arrieta (3-1)     L – John Danks (0-4)

– Arrieta didn’t have his best stuff tonight but he was able to get through 5 innings keeping the team in the game. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts. Luke Scott helped him out by robbing a homerun over the fence in left field. Arrieta just didn’t have the sharpness to his pitches that hes had in most of his starts so far. The good thing is he has a bulldog mentality and will give you everything he has.
– Clay Rapada pitched an inning, giving up a solo homerun to bring the White Sox back within one but the offense broke the game open to give the bullpen a bit of relief. Jim Johnson struck out two in a perfect inning and Jeremy Accardo pitched two scoreless innings.
– After falling behind 3-0 in the 2nd inning the Orioles came back and tied it up. Brian Roberts and Derrek Lee had RBI singles in the 3rd, then Scott hit a solo homerun in the 4th.
– Matt Wieters crushed a two run homer on a 3-0 count to give the O’s the lead in the 6th inning, then hit a two run double in the five run 7th. Roberts also had a two run double in the inning. Those were the only two hits but there were five walks, including one to Mark Reynolds with the bases loaded to force in a run.
– Robert Andino continues to impress hitting out of the nine spot with three more singles and a walk tonight. Reynolds singled, Nick Markakis walked twice, and Scott and Roberts each walked once.

Player of the game: Matt Wieters – 2-5, 2 R, 4 RBI, double (5), HR (4) (.260 AVG)

Chris Tillman (0-2, 6.16) gets back on the mound tomorrow night after having his turn skipped earlier in the week. Philip Humber (2-2, 3.20) is coming off a great start against the Yankees heading into game two of the series.
