O’s Fall to Rays 6-2

W – James Shields (3-1)     L – Zach Britton (5-2)

– Britton had a bad stretch of three batters to open the 2nd inning and that was enough to earn him the loss. He gave up back to back doubles followed by a two run homer to fall behind early 3-0. Other than that he only gave up one other hit and a walk over 5.1 innings, the shortest outing of his career. He struck out four batters.
– Jason Berken pitched 1.1 scoreless innings despite giving up three hits and a walk. He struck out two. Clay Rapada struck out the only batter he faced. Jeremy Accardo gave up a run over an inning of work and Koji Uehara gave up a two run homer in his inning, striking out a pair.
– The Orioles got on the board in the 6th inning on a solo homerun from Derrek Lee. He also walked in the game. Our only other run came in the 9th when we were already down 6-1. Luke Scott doubled in Vladimir Guerrero, who hit one of his two doubles in the game. Adam Jones singled and Mark Reynolds and Robert Andino each walked for the only other baserunners.

Player of the game: Derrek Lee – 1-3, BB, solo HR (3) (.244 AVG)

Jeremy Guthrie vs. Jeremy Hellickson in game two.
