O’s Blown Out 13-2

W – CC Sabathia (4-3)     L – Brad Bergesen (1-5)

– With the way the bullpen was used in the first game of the series it would’ve been great if Bergesen could’ve pitched deep into the game. Unfortunately he had his worst start of the season, got gave up five runs in the first inning, and couldn’t make it through the 4th. He gave up eight runs total on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts. All five hits went for extra bases.
– Chris Jakubauskas gave us some innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks with a strikeout through three and a third. Troy Patton got us through the end of the game without having to use any of our other pitchers for the second straight night. He gave up a two run homer in his two and a third innings, walking one and striking out three.
– The offense was in a big hole before they even got to bat and the game was pretty much over right then with Sabathia on the mound. We didn’t score until he was out of the game in the 9th, with the score at 13-0. Mark Reynolds hit a double to score one run and Jake Fox grounded out, bringing the other run home. Fox doubled earlier in the game.
– Robert Andino and Vladimir Guerrero each singled twice. Vlad’s batting average is now over .300, hes scorching right now. Adam Jones doubled and singled. Nick Markakis and Felix Pie each singled. Markakis was hit in the back in the bottom of the first, an obvious retaliation by the Yankees from all the batters that have been hit on their side so far in the season series.

Player of the game: Adam Jones – 2-4, R, double (7) (.292 AVG)

Interleague play gets started tonight with the “beltway series”. The Nationals come to town, starting Jason Marquis (5-1, 3.54) in game one. Jake Arrieta (5-1, 4.03) pitches for the Orioles.
