O’s Swept in Oakland 6-4

W – Guillermo Moscoso (2-0)     L – Zach Britton (5-3)     SV – Brian Fuentes (11)

– Britton had the worst game of his young career. He couldn’t get through six innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Hes young and it was his first start on the west coast but it was bad timing with the Orioles coming off back to back losses.
– Jeremy Accardo continued to pitch well, throwing 1.1 perfect innings. Kevin Gregg walked three batters in the bottom of the 8th but he escaped without allowing a run.
– The offense finally had an extra base hit but it was the only one of the series, a double by JJ Hardy after Matt Wieters singled to put runners in scoring position. Unfortunately we weren’t able to score.
– The offense scored four runs in the top of the 5th to take a 4-1 lead. Back to back singles by Hardy and Mark Reynolds opened the inning. Robert Andino sacrificed them to second and third and was safe at first. Felix Pie singled, Nolan Reimold walked and Nick Markakis and Vladimir Guerrero each had RBI ground outs. Britton gave up four runs in the bottom half of the inning to give the lead right back. Andino had a single and walked.
– Adam Jones left the game in the 4th with a sore shoulder. Hes listed as day to day and the Orioles need to hope thats all it is. Jones has been the O’s best hitter consistently since the calender turned to May.

Player of the game: JJ Hardy – 2-4, R, double (6) (.247 AVG)

Its off to Seattle now for an afternoon game on Memorial Day. Jake Arrieta (6-2, 4.57) pitches game one against Doug Fister (2-5, 3.18).
