O’s Dominated 4-1

W – Ricky Romero (6-6)     L – Jake Arrieta (8-4)     SV – Frank Francisco (6)

– Romero pitched so well tonight that when the Blue Jays scored their second run in the 6th inning the lead seemed insurmountable. Once it got to 4-0 the game was over. Jake Arrieta actually pitched a pretty good game leaving with two outs in the 7th inning and a runner on first. Clay Rapada came in to face the lefty Adam Lind and gave up a homerun. Arrieta’s final line was 6.2 innings pitched, three runs on nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Jason Berken eventually got the final out in the 7th and Kevin Gregg pitched a perfect 8th inning with two strikeouts.
– The offense didn’t score until the 9th once Romero was out of the game. He had walked Nick Markakis and Adam Jones to start the inning and was taken out of the game. Matt Wieters hit an RBI single but Derrek Lee followed it up by grounding into a game ending double play. Markakis walked twice and also singled. JJ Hardy doubled and Vladimir Guerrero singled. Mark Reynolds walked. We struck out 12 times in the game and continue to be the streakiest team in baseball. I’m guessing we start a three or four game winning streak tomorrow..

Player of the game: Nick Markakis – 1-2, R, 2 BB (.251 AVG)

Its an early afternoon game tomorrow as the Orioles try to avoid their 17th straight loss in Toronto. Zach Stewart (0-0, -.–) will make his MLB debut against Jeremy Guthrie (2-8, 3.77).
