O’s Lose Rain Delayed Game 6-2

W – Kyle Lohse (8-4)     L – Zach Britton (6-6)

– Britton had a tough 2nd inning, giving up four straight hits adding up to three runs, but pitched well the rest of the way. He gave up a solo homerun in the 6th before a half hour rain delay ended his outing. He ended up allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Clay Rapada finished the inning after the delay and got the first two batters of the 7th before being removed after a triple. Jason Berken came in and served up a two run homer, then went on to pitch the final 2.1 innings.
– The offense scored both of their runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. JJ Hardy hit a solo homerun then back to back doubles by Nick Markakis and Adam Jones scored another. Markakis also singled and Jones walked in the game. Vladimir Guerrero, Matt Wieters, Derrek Lee, and Robert Andino each singled and Mark Reynolds walked. Luke Scott bruised his knee making a leaping catch at the wall in the 9th inning and is listed as day to day. He was removed for a pinch hitter in the bottom half of the inning. Even without Albert Pujols the Cardinals were able to out score us.

Player of the game: Adam Jones – 1-3, RBI, BB, double (15) (.294 AVG)

Game two features a battle of the Chris’. Chris Carpenter (2-7, 4.26) faces the Orioles in Baltimore for the first time since he played for the Blue Jays while Chris Jakubauskas (2-0, 5.18) brags that he has a cooler last name.
