O’s One Hit 4-0

W – Jair Jurrjens (11-3)     L – Jeremy Guthrie (3-10)

– Well this will be quick… The Orioles were dominated for their fourth consecutive loss. Jurrjens only allowed two base runners the entire night. A walk to Mark Reynolds in the 6th and a seeing eye single to Adam Jones in the 7th. It was an ugly night for Oriole hitters. With a big strike zone Jurrjens had his way with us, striking out eight.
– Jeremy Guthrie pitched very well in his own right but you can’t win when you don’t score a run. He matched Jurrjens for the first five innings but left a fastball up in the middle of the plate and Jason Heyward didn’t miss it, hitting a two run homer in the 6th. Guthrie pitched into the 8th but was taken out after the first two runners reached base. Pedro Viola came in and got an out but then allowed both runners to score. Derrek Lee didn’t help with a throwing error to force in the second run. Guthrie’s final line was 7 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Hes gotta be starting to think what it would be like to pitch on a winning team. Maybe he’ll get that chance. Jason Berken came in and struck out the only two batters he faced.

Player of the game: Jeremy Guthrie – 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K (3.93 ERA)

Jake Arrieta (9-4, 4.50) makes his first start in what seems like forever tonight against Tim Hudson (6-6, 3.51) and the Braves.
