O’s Lose In Another Onslaught 13-5

W – Alexi Ogando (9-3)     L – Jeremy Guthrie (3-11)

– This is getting really hard to watch. The Orioles have now lost eight of their last nine games to fall to 12 games under .500 and not many have even been close. It was another blowout last night. Guthrie gave up four runs in the 1st inning and the game seemed over already at that point. He managed to make it through five innings, giving up six runs on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts. He settled down after the first but just didn’t seem himself with his command and demeanor. The bullpen was even worse. Mike Gonzalez gave up two runs in his inning, Brad Bergesen four in his, and Kevin Gregg allowed a run in the bottom of the 8th.
– We made the game somewhat interesting in the top of the 2nd when Derrek Lee hit a two run homer after Matt Wieters doubled. The game got out of hand before we scored again. Vladimir Guerrero hit a solo homerun in the top of the 7th and an RBI single in the 8th. Nick Markakis also had an RBI single in that inning. Robert Andino singled and doubled in the game. Mark Reynolds singled and JJ Hardy walked. Adam Jones was hit by a pitch.

Player of the game: Vladimir Guerrero – 2-4, R, 2 RBI, HR (7) (.282 AVG)

It doesn’t get any easier as we head to Boston for a four game series against the Red Sox. Jake Arrieta (9-5, 4.74) starts the first game against Andrew Miller (2-0, 3.06).
