Offensive Hangover Leads To 3-0 Loss

W – Ricky Romero (8-9)     L – Alfredo Simon (2-4)     SV – Jon Rauch (8)

– One night after recording twelve runs and eight extra base hits the Orioles offense only managed four hits without scoring a run. Toronto’s ace Romero has owned us in his last two starts. Adam Jones singled and doubled. Derrek Lee singled and walked. Matt Wieters singled and Nick Markakis and Felix Pie each walked. JJ Hardy struck out in all four of his at bats and we were 0-6 with runners in scoring position. Just not our night.
– Simon wasn’t awful but he just threw too many pitches and couldn’t get out of the innings when he needed to. He struck out seven batters over five innings but gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks. On the plus side hes completely stretched out now having thrown over 100 pitches. Chris Jakubauskas, Troy Patton, and Kevin Gregg each threw scoreless innings and had two strikeouts.

Player of the game: Adam Jones – 2-4, double (18) (.290 AVG)

The Orioles can take their first series in a long time tonight with Brad Bergesen (2-6, 5.54) pitching. The Blue Jays counter with Carlos Villanueva (5-2, 3.40).
