Guthrie Solid In 4-2 Win

W – Jeremy Guthrie (5-14)     L – AJ Burnett (8-9)     SV – Kevin Gregg (17)

– Well if it was Guthrie’s last start as an Oriole then he went out in style, holding the Yankees to one run on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts over seven innings. That has to impress the teams that were scouting him. Hes proven that he can hold his own against the american league east powers, hes a work horse, and has good mound presence. I think he’d really help a team in playoff contention. Koji Uehara was also showcased in the game, striking out two in a scoreless 8th. Kevin Gregg made it scary in the 9th like he does but closed the game after giving up a run.
– Derrek Lee stayed hot as another game thats come up in trade discussions. He doubled, homered, and walked – driving in two runs. Mark Reynolds also hit a homerun, a two run shot in the 2nd inning to give us the early lead. Vladimir Guerrero doubled and was hit by a pitch. Nick Markakis also doubled. Robert Andino singled and walked. The only other hit was a Nolan Reimold single. We were only 1-7 with runners in scoring position but hit for extra bases when it counted. I forgot how good it feels to win a game handily.

Player of the game: Derrek Lee – 2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, double (15), HR (12) (.248 AVG)

Its a double header today with Chris Tillman pitching game one and Zach Britton game two. It would be nice to win one of them.
