Double Header Game Two: Orioles 3, Yankees 17

W – Ivan Nova (9-4)     L – Zach Britton (6-8)

– Britton was called up from AA Bowie to start the game but unlike Tillman hes here to stay. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like his time down in Bowie did him any good. In his last major league start he only lasted 0.2 innings and this time he did even worse than that, only getting one out before getting knocked from the game. Two errors didn’t help but he gave up nine runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk. The only out he recorded was a strikeout. He didn’t pitch very well in AA either so hopefully he can right the ship sometime soon.
– Jason Berken poured fuel on the fire, giving up seven runs of his own over 2.2 innings. He walked two batters and gave up eight hits. He was sent to AAA Norfolk after Sunday’s game. Chris Jakubauskas was next, he only gave up one run over three innings. Mark Hendrickson pitched a scoreless inning then Mike Gonzalez came in and was hit by a line drive by the first batter he faced. It hit him right on the throwing hand and he immediately came out of the game. Troy Patton struck out two batter to finish the inning without allowing a run. He pitched in both games of the double header.
– Vladimir Guerrero had probably his best game of the season, driving in two runs with a solo homerun, two singles, and a double. If he can show some production he could be the next player to be traded before the waiver deadline. Very highly unlikely that anyone would claim him with his salary so he could be traded at any time. Mark Reynolds drove in the other run with an RBI single. He also walked. Nick Markakis doubled. Adam Jones, Blake Davis, and Matt Wieters each singled.

Player of the game: Vladimir Guerrero – 4-4, R, 2 RBI, double (17), HR (9) (.285 AVG)
