Another One Run Loss, 4-3

W – Gavin Floyd (10-10)     L – Jo-Jo Reyes (5-9)     SV – Sergio Santos (24)

– Reyes made his first start as an Oriole and it seemed to follow the pattern of most of his starts elsewhere. I wasn’t very impressed. Not much swing and miss stuff from the lefty. He gave up four runs on five hits and two walks over four innings to put us in another early hole. I say put Jo-Jo back in the bullpen. Chris Jakubauskas did a very good job to keep us in the game and gave us a chance to get back in it, holding the White Sox scoreless for four frames. He started the 9th but walked the leadoff batter and was replaced by Jason Berken, who finished the inning.
– The offense got us back in the game in the 5th inning when they scored three runs. Matt Wieters, Felix Pie, and Robert Andino hit consecutive singles to open the inning and load the bases. JJ Hardy grounded into a force that allowed a run to score, Nick Markakis hit an RBI single, and Adam Jones reached on an error while another run scored. Markakis and Pie each also doubled in the game. Pie and Jones walked while Vladimir Guerrero singled. There was a bad call by the third base ump when Markakis was called out trying to steal third that got Buck Showalter tossed from the game. Nick was clearly safe and it could’ve made a difference in the game. But we did also strand runners on third with one out on two occasions, which definitely made a difference in the game. We just don’t do the little things right. Feels like we never have.

Player of the game: Felix Pie – 2-2, R, BB, double (8) (.229 AVG)

Tommy Hunter (1-2, 4.43) will try to prove he can do better than his first start against Phil Humber (8-8, 3.56) and the Chicago hitters.
